The month of March became Encourage month as it provided many opportunities to meet homeschool families at some events I attended – local and state expos and conferences. I love encouraging families. Telling people about my job and how to better help homeschool families, especially those with learning struggles and disabilities invigorates me and brings hope to others.
What I learned from meeting you:
Everyone needs encouragement about something.
Some of the families I talked to did not have any struggles in homeschooling, but that doesn’t mean they don’t have other kinds of struggles. Everyone has something. Encouragement always helps!
Encourage one another daily, as long as it is called “Today,” so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness. Hebrews 3:13
Learning Struggles affect all of us.
If a family doesn’t have a struggling learner, they know someone who does. I asked those families to share with their friends my information to encourage them. Some felt comfortable handing them one of my brochures or business cards, but sometimes it’s a sensitive subject… What can you do for those families? Share my encouragement posts. If they hang out on my website, they will see the posts about learning struggles or other learning disabilities.
The methods I share for struggling learners also help those who don’t struggle!
I haven’t mentioned this enough. Many families walked by me and didn’t want to stop because they don’t have a struggling learner. But a few did and heard tips to help them! Good teaching methods benefit everyone. My advice, tips, and the approach I use, while effective for those who struggle, also helps in any learning situation with all learning styles. Truth is, every child has strengths and weaknesses. While some of my discussions and blog posts are specific to struggles, many will help any homeschool family!
I want to keep sharing!
I realized how many families were helped by answering a few questions. Do you have a homeschool co op that would benefit from one of my talks or a Question/Answer session? Contact me for information on how to make that happen!
Did I meet you at one of the events? I hope you were encouraged! Leave a comment and tell me which one.
