Growing up in church, I heard it from day one. We are loved by God. Immensely, incredibly, unexplainably, unearned, Loved.
The Lord your God is in your midst,
a mighty one who will save;
he will rejoice over you with gladness;
he will quiet you by his love;
he will exult over you with loud singing.
The Lord your God is with you,
the Mighty Warrior who saves.
He will take great delight in you;
in his love he will no longer rebuke you,
but will rejoice over you with singing.
Do you ever have a verse that keeps popping up around you? The above verse is doing that with me. I keep reading it in different translations. (So far these two, ESV on the top and NIV on the bottom, are my favorite.)
I’ll never forget when I first heard it a few months ago. My friend read it in a Women’s group. I admired the words and her explanation was beautiful, but I didn’t believe it.
WHAT? Not believe part of the Bible?
Let’s get something straight – I believe the Bible in it’s entirety. It is the infallible Word of God. From cover to cover to I take it seriously.
I don’t live like I believe it.
I struggle with truly accepting that I am always without fail loved by God – the depth of His absolute love for me. Because I see myself through my sin. What I forget is that God sees me washed clean.
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16
This summer I’m focusing on God’s love for me. I’ve walked around secretly doubting it for far too long. It’s time to soak in the magnitude of his love, to take down the wall I’ve constructed around my heart, and to be quiet in his love and remember he no longer rebukes me but sings LOUDLY over me! Wow. My ears are deaf to his singing. I WANT TO HEAR YOU!
This is not just about me. God loves YOU.
YOU are SO Loved by God!!!
He quiets you with his love and sings loudly over YOU. He delights in YOU. Do you know him?
I would love to hear from you in the comments!
